Since its first show in May 2007 The Wet Spot has become a main event on the Leeds burlesque & cabaret scene. The Wet Spot aims to showcase established performers from all over the country - a wide variety of burlesque & cabaret acts, a great club atmosphere, with brilliant DJ’s, all in all a cracking night out! From its humble beginnings Upstairs at The Adelphi in May 2007, to a night at The Library in 2008, and then a move to the huge 460 capacity venue of Downstairs at The Wardrobe - The Wet Spot - now into its 4th year - is going stronger than ever.
As well as organizing and promoting the nights, Ryvita Von Cheese (pictured right) was a regular performer at the events up until her recent move to Brighton in June 2011. Ryvita will continue to oversee the show and book the same level of fabulous acts and a wealth of sensational guest hosts to introduce the show in her abs ence…but don’t worry - she’ll be back!! Guest hosts (all of whom you will be sure to recognise from previous Wet Spot shows!) will introduce the acts and the fabulous Daisy Cutter and Morning Star (who run the brilliant Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art class in Leeds) will be on hand to stage manage and ensure things run smoothly! The Wet Spot is lucky enough to have resident burlesque dancer, the internationally renowned Anna Fur Laxis perform at many of the shows. Anna is not only admired all over the country for her exceptional routines but has also performed recently in Las Vegas - where she won first runner up in the Miss Exotic World contest 2011! The idea behind The Wet Spot is to mix together performances by burlesque dancers, cabaret acts, singers, magicians, comedians, Chinese pole-acrobats etc and combine it with DJ sets of classic Rock ’n’ Roll, Jump Jive and Swing to get the crowds dancing. The Wet Spot also provides a glamorous, fun occasion with a friendly atmosphere complete with fabulous performers for a wonderfully varied crowd. The Wet Spot doesn’t have a dress code as such - although the vintage frocks and suits are out in abundance, but anyone 18+, nicely dressed, be it vintage glamour or Sunday best, who appreciates high quality cabaret & burlesque, nice manners, rocking 40’s and 50’s hits to dance to ’til the small hours and a good Yorkshire knees up is warmly welcomed!
Tickets are available in advance from The Wardrobe or from this website, or on the club door on the night. Doors open 8.30pm, first acts are on at 9pm, we have 2 intervals between the acts, then our 50’s throwback DJ Danny Mass will be playing rockin’ records from 11.30pm until 2am! All times are approximate and subject to alteration on the day. Please note that seating is limited so get there early if you want a sit down! Tickets are non-returnable/non-refundable. Over 18’s only - if you are lucky enough to look younger than 18 - bring some ID!
